Apple rarely releases an operating system update for just one of its OSes, and it’s just as rare that it fixes a single issue.
That’s exactly what macOS 26.6.1, released today, is and does. Apple’s Security Releases page lists only a single fix, to Screen Sharing:
An attacker on the network may be able to authenticate to Screen Sharing without valid credentials.
The update is only for macOS—there are not updates for iOS, iPadOS, or any other OS equivalent.
For those with older Macs that don’t support macOS 26, Apple has released macOS 15.7.9 and 14.8.9 as well to address the same issue.
